From Preservation Action:

This week, Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA) and Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI) launched the bipartisan Historic Stadium Caucus in the House. The Caucus will bring together members of Congress to work on preserving the legacy of historic stadiums, protecting their integrity, and enhancing their capabilities. At the launch, the Caucus announced 18 historic stadiums across the country that will participate. That list includes the oldest remaining football stadium in the United States, University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field, which was built in 1895. The list also includes iconic stadiums like Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA and the Los Angeles Memorial Stadium, which opened in 1923. These stadiums have hosted some of the biggest events in sports including multiple Super Bowls, World Cup Finals and two Olympic games in 1932 and 1984, with a third planned in 2028.

The Caucus will focus on three key areas including security and safety enhancements, technological upgrades, and funding for infrastructure updates, all while maintaining the historic character of these stadiums. The co-chairs of the Historic Stadium Caucus plan to circulate a "Dear Colleague" letter encouraging members of Congress to join and begin discussing strategies on preserving these historic stadiums. Check out the press release to learn more about this exciting new caucus.
