Indiana Motorcycle Preservation Society (IMPS) Accepts Donation of Historic Building

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Indiana Motorcycle Preservation Society to Embark on a Historic Journey with the Acquisition of 314 S Washington St, Marion, Ind.

Marion, Ind. – February 2, 2024
The Indiana Motorcycle Preservation Society (IMPS) is pleased to announce a landmark decision made by the board on January 31, resulting in the unanimous acceptance of Carmen Mitchell's generous gift — the building located at 314 S Washington St, Marion.

The board convened inside this historic building at 6 pm, recognizing the immense opportunity that lies within its walls. Knowing the evolution from the Blumenthal Department Store to Ride & Leather, the building encapsulates a myriad of stories that have woven through the fabric of Marion's history.

"We are thrilled to play a part in shaping the future of this iconic building while preserving the rich stories it holds," said Jake Simpkins, Board President at IMPS.
The vision for the future of 314 S Washington St is expansive and reflects a commitment to preserving and celebrating Indiana's motorcycle heritage. Plans include the potential establishment of a motorcycle museum space, a motorcycle restoration shop, swap meet retail space, business rental space, and market living spaces.

While these plans excite us, our immediate priorities lie in essential repairs. The focus will be on addressing roof repairs, exterior wall repairs, and windows, ensuring the building's structural integrity is safeguarded for generations to come.

To support this ambitious project, IMPS encourages donations. Contributions can be sent via mail to 314 S Washington St, Marion, or made online at indianamps.org.

For inquiries related to project bids or media, please contact indianamps@outlook.com.

The Indiana Motorcycle Preservation Society looks forward to engaging the community in this revitalization effort, turning a page of Marion's history into a vibrant chapter for the future.
