Museums: Building Collections, Building Community

The Marion Dean Ross Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians hosts an exciting three-day conference in Seattle this October. This year's theme is "Museums: Building Collections, Building Community" focusing on the area's unparalleled number of museums devoted to history in historic buildings. Tour the award-winning Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI), located in a former armory building on South Lake Union; enjoy social hour on the historic Virginia V, the last of the famed Mosquito fleet of steamboats; and visit Seattle's International District including stops the Nisei Veterans Hall, Wing Luke Museum, and Klondike Gold Rush Museum. The final day is reserved for a ferry trip to Bainbridge Island to visit museums and the Bloedel Reserve.
