50 Years of Architectural History at U.VA. ~ An Anniversary Celebration

The full schedule of events for the day can be found below, and include talks and roundtable discussions on how architectural history and historic preservation has changed over the years, perspectives on the school, and also tours of recent preservation/restoration at the University. We hope to have some past faculty in attendance. The day-long conference, which includes a light lunch, is free and open to the public but you MUST register in advance to attend. Please email Mary Jo Bateman, mb2tr@virginia.edu, to let her know if you are registering and will be sending in your form and payment.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the MA in Architectural History in 1964, the 56th anniversary of the BA degree in ARH in 1958 and the 25th of the PhD in ARH in 1989, the Department of Architectural History will host a conference and reception on Saturday December 6, 2014. The full schedule of events for the day can be found below, and include talks and roundtable discussions on how architectural history and historic preservation has changed over the years, perspectives on the school, and also tours of recent preservation/restoration at the University. We hope to have some past faculty in attendance.

The day-long conference, which includes a light lunch, is free and open to the public but you MUST register in advance to attend.  Please email Mary Jo Bateman, mb2tr@virginia.edu, to let her know if you are registering and will be sending in your form and payment.

There will be a reception on the Lawn that evening, at a cost of $50.00 per guest to attend.  There is also an exclusive guided hard hat tour of the Rotunda renovation project offered with a cost per person of $50.00, of which proceeds will be donated to the Rotunda Restoration Fund, and guided tour of The Lawn.
