Digging Deeper (Historic Seattle)

March 5, 2015

Registration closes at 5 pm, Tuesday, March 3, two days before the event. Tour instructions regarding driving, parking, and specific site details will be e-mailed to registered attendees.

NOTE EARLIER START TIME: 9:00 AM (ends at 10:30 am)Digging Deeper is Historic Seattleā€™s multi-session program designed to provide attendees with behind-the-scenes insight to primary research materials in the many archives and libraries in Seattle and King County. Each month we visit a selected archive or library and receive expert advice as to what is available and how staff can assist with research projects. This program helps you to explore buildings, architecture, and history. By the time you are through, you will want to attend one or more of the events during National Archives Month in Seattle in October 2015.

On March 5, the City of Seattle Department of Planning and Development (DPD) staff gives us tour of its Public Resource Center (PRC). The Public Resource Center provides one location to access publications, information on permits under review, and historical records. Of particular interest to researchers is the Microfilm Library which contains documents from the 1890s to the present. The public can access plans for construction, electrical, mechanical, and land use permits.

The Public Resource Center is located on the 20th floor of the Seattle Municipal Tower.

Cost: Series of eight sessions: $65 general public / $50 members / $20 students Individual sessions: $10 general public / $8 members / $5 students
