"Mystery & Murder!" presented by Candlelight Theatre

April 15-30, 2016

April 15-16, 22-24 and 29-30, 2016
In Candlelight Theatre's spring production Mystery & Murder!, the audience will delve deeply into the questions of Who? Why? and How? in this trilogy of vintage one-act plays where circumstances are not always as they seem - and death comes from unlikely suspects.  Each play is performed in a different room of the mansion complete with candlelight and the rich ambiance of original President Harrison furnishings.

The Cameo Killer, by James Trofatter, will be performed in the back parlor.  Phoebe Tarkington is concerned that she may be the next target of a killer stalking the neighborhood.  Her husband, James is concerned for his wife's mental and physical health as she stretches the limits of her sanity.  And Inspector Jonathan Grant is trying to understand if there is any connection between the death of Phoebe's mother six month ago and this recent outbreak of serial killings.  And what is the killer's fascination with cameo jewelry? In the dining room, Picture Imperfect, Michael Yashinsky's poignant and compelling character study of a tired young Harvard medical student makes its world debut.  The student's name is Frank Torrens and his active imagination carries him well beyond the confines of normality.  Can Frank come to terms with the past or will the past draw him in so tightly that he loses the present?  Can Tabitha, the young housekeeper, keep Frank on this side of the abyss?  And who is the man with no name who visits Frank? The Proposition, by James Trofatter, will be played in the sitting room.  Mary Worthington has a problem with her husband.  There's nothing worse than rampant infidelity, except when this infidelity squanders the family's fortune.  Mary has a proposition for Esther Brown, his most recent concquest.  "Kill my husband and I'll pay you handsomely for your efforts."  How does Esther respond to this appalling request?  And how does Irene Fleming, the would-be decorator, fit into Mary's plans? Discover the answers to these burning questions this April!  Performances will sell out.  Reservations strongly suggested. Consider booking a private room for up to 20 guests - a great way to enjoy a night out with friends, family, clients or co-workers!
