American Legion Lincoln Birthday Ceremony

Veterans from American Legion posts around the country will make their annual pilgrimage to the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site. They’ll lay wreaths in the burial chamber at 10:30 a.m. The event, sponsored by American Legion Post 32.
Pilgrimage ceremony includes wreath placing and remarks by the National President of The American Legion Auxiliary; National Commander of the Sons of The American Legion and keynote address by the National Commander of The American Legion.
The tomb is operated by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. Along with the state’s World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War memorials, it is located in Springfield’s Oak Ridge Cemetery at 1500 Monument Avenue. All are open daily for free tours.
