Thomas Nast's Influence Over the Great Presidential Election Controversy of 1876: Hayes vs. Tilden

Ryan Hyman, F. M. Kirby Curator of Collections at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum,
Morristown, NJ, will discuss the history of Nast’s presidential election cartoons with particular focus on one of the most controversial presidential races in history: the 1876 campaign that pitted Rutherford B. Hayes against Samuel Tilden. Mr. Hyman’s illustrated lecture will feature works in the collection of the museum, which holds the largest collection of Thomas Nast material in the world.
