Historic Wilmington Foundation's Fundraising Luncheon

November 10, 2016

Please join us for Historic Wilmington Foundation's Fundraising Luncheon!

Thursday, November 10
11:30am - 1:00pm
Coastline Conference and Events Center
501 Nutt Street, Rooms, B&C

$100 minimum donation

Our keynote speaker will be Nick Dawson, landscape architect and manager at Orton Plantation.

Raleigh native and billionaire philanthropist Louise Moore Bacon purchased Orton Plantation and approximately 8,500 surrounding acres in 2010, closing it to the public and embarking on a prodigious effort to restore the area. Since that time, the Cape Fear residents, environmentalists, preservationists and more have wondered about the project's progress. We are so excited to have Nick Dawson to share news
from the Plantation!

Awarding winning independent film maker, published author, and 20+year educator, Claudia Stack, has played a pivotal role bringing the Rosenwald schools to the historic preservation conversation in our local area. These schools, built in part with funding by the Julius Rosenwald Foundation, are considered the most significant educational
initiative for segregation-era African Americans in the South. Claudia will talk about her work involving these schools as well as her most recent work with Southern sharecropper histories and how her relationship with the Historic Wilmington Foundation has helped her with both.
