Learn traditional skills in short hands-on weekend workshops. These workshops are open to anyone interested in preservation crafts.
BLD 232: Dry Stack Masonry
Students gain knowledge and practical hands-on experience in dry stack masonry, including basic principles, techniques, and methods for proper dry lay wall construction. They will develop skills in assessing, deconstructing and reconstructing a stone wall in an historic cultural landscape.
Dates: Sat-Sun, 7-8, 14-15, 21-22 April
Location: Flavel Museum site
BLD 228: Monument Documentation and Restoration
Students assess, document and restore elements on the 1926 Doughboy Monument, a National Register of Historic Places site. Work may include stucco assessment, painting, flagpole restoration, roof work, and preparation for the restoration of damaged clay roof tiles.
