Islip Hamlet's Role in our Nations Wars

On Thurs, May 17th, The Historical Society of Islip Hamlet will present "Islip Hamlet's Role in our Nations Wars". From a Revolutionary War militia to this Century's War in Iraq, come learn from eyewitness accounts, letters, and personal recollections, of the citizens who fought in our nations wars. Diaries and letters from soldiers will describe the experience of Islip's Revolutionary and Civil War soldiers. Veterans will give recollections of service in Vietnam, and the Islip doughboys who gave their lives in the First World War. Veterans of World War II, Korea, and Iraq will share their stories of what it was like to fight in each of these wars. Uniforms, weaponry, pictures, music and newspaper clippings will be available to enhance our appreciation of this significant chapter in the history of Islip hamlet.
