National Lighthouse Museum, Staten Island NY will again participate in Jane's Walk...FREE

May 5-6, 2018

Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, citizen-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs.Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories about their neighborhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbors.Walks take place in hundreds of cities around the world.

Jane’s Walk, Saturday, May 5th and Sunday, May 6, 2018, 2:00 PM

Highlights the Current Site of the National Lighthouse Museum Explore the Early American history of the current site of the National Lighthouse Museum. Long before its role as the General Depot for the Lighthouse Service, the area around the Depot was an important freshwater source to the Lenape and later to British troops during the French and Indian War.

The site also served as the Marine Hospital/Quarantine until its burning in 1858 by concerned Staten Island residents. Join James Sarlo as he takes visitors around the site of the General Depot and discusses what came before. This FREE walking tour includes FREE admission to the National Lighthouse Museum.Tour is less than .25 miles and last approximately one hour.

Tour starts at the Museum. For more information visit:
