Park Avenue Pop-Up Walking Tour

September 19, 2018

Join The Landmark Society and the Young Urban Preservationists for a guided walking tour of the Park Avenue neighborhood! We'll explore the architecture and history of one of Rochester's most iconic neighborhoods. As a special bonus--we're even getting you inside two incredible private homes and two Park Ave. businesses! This is a rare opportunity to get a peek inside these homes and see the neighborhood through the eyes of local architecture and history experts.

We're offering 5 different tour start times to choose from. All tours will start at 270 Park Ave (at the RMSC Park) and will follow the same route. We'll end at The Hideaway (199 Park Ave.) with drink specials and appetizers.

Your purchase supports neighborhood efforts to create a Park Avenue Historic District. Visit our website to learn more about this important project: www.landmarksociety.org/parkave

Sponsored by ROC Real Capital. Additional support provided by The Hideway, Norchar, Haus Capital Corp.

FAQs:

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
We strongly encourage you to walk, bike, or take the bus. For those driving, be aware of alternate side parking rules. Parking switches over to the other side of the street starting at 6:00 PM. Read the signs carefully. If your tour starts before 6, we recommend parking on a street that does not have alternate side parking (such as: Park Ave., East Ave., Oxford St., Arnold Park). Otherwise, if you park your car before the switch and don't move it, you will be ticketed. How long will the walking tour be?We will be walking for approximately 90-120 minutes, covering approximately 2-3 miles. Please wear appropriate footwear.

What if it rains?
The walking tours will go on rain or shine, unless there are thunderstorms. If the tour is cancelled, an email notification will be sent by 4:00 PM day-of to all registrants.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Contact Caitlin Meives, Preservation Planner with The Landmark Society at cmeives@landmarksociety.org or 585.546.7029 x27.

What's the refund policy?
Refunds will be available through Tuesday, September 18th, minus a $5 processing fee. Requests for refunds must be made in writing through Eventbrite or via email to cmeives@landmarksociety.org.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No. We will have a check-in list.

Is this event appropriate for children?
Children under the age of 12 are not encouraged to take the tour.

Will the tour be handicap accessible?
As part of the event involves tours of private homes, not public sites, there may be limitations on accessibility. We regret that wheelchairs may not be admitted to the private homes, and there may be limited access for assistive walkers in the homes. Tour goers should expect to stand, walk without assistance, and climb several steps in the private homes.

What other restrictions should I be aware of?
No smoking, eating, photography, use of the furniture or restroom facilities in the homes. Umbrellas or backpacks (including baby carriers) are not permitted in the homes. Photography is permitted during the outdoor portions of the walking tour.
