Property History
Initially patented to John Tulley in 1664, Tulley's Fancy was re-patented to Henry Hosier in 1671. Hosier acquired an additional 100 acres the following year which he call Hosier's Additions. However, the name "Tulley's Fancy"has remained.

We believe that this house was contracted about 100 years later in the 1770's. The period is evident throughout.

Property Description
Tulley’s Fancy is one of the few surviving Federal period houses on Quaker Neck in the County of Kent Maryland. It is a typical brick, Flemish bond Maryland farmhouse of the 18th c.

Most, of the original details remain including finely detailed mantels, floors and windows. It is not a pretentious building but its understatement is powerful especially coupled with its setting and location on Langford Creek. A complex of wonderful old outbuildings, including a large barn, granary, and studio completes this fine situation. A remote waterfront garage asks to be something more.

The current owners have worked tirelessly to restore it to it fine beginnings while being mindful of its important historic value.  A double-tiered porch overlooks Lankford Creek.

A truly authentic, peaceful and charming experience.

Historic Chestertown lies within a short distance. The location could not be more central to Washington College- the 10th oldest college in America, live theatre, charming shops, fine 18th & 19th c. buildings, our historic Fountain Park and lovely Chester River.

Additional Notes
One must experience and absorb this fine, beautifully restored and presented historic property to fully appreciate its quiet country sophistication.
