Property History
Frederick Grisard was born in Switzerland in 1808 and immigrated to Vevay, IN in 1818 with his family, about four years after the town was laid out. The Civil War Captain built this home for his son Rudolph (born 1832) whom was killed in 1878 saving a girl from a runaway horse. Capt. Grisard was a self-made, self-educated man and no one in Switzerland County has ever sustained a better reputation for sterling worth or faithfulness to business and leadership. The home has not sold in over 100 years and has been in the McKay family (current owners) for four generations.
