Maryland Museums Association, Inc. (MMA) invites proposals from qualified individuals and/or firms to lead a project focused on best practices for oral history, emphasizing equity, trust, and privacy.  This work is funded in part by a competitive grant awarded to the Maryland Museums Association by the Maryland 250 Commission.

The consultant will develop materials that are grounded in national best practices supplemented with Maryland-based case-studies and resources. The audience of this work are volunteers, cultural organizations, and community historians in Maryland that are considering launching or improving oral history programs at their institutions/agencies that are ethical, inclusive, and sustainable. 

Total budget is not to exceed $3,500 for consultant services, exclusive of workshop/meeting room rental fees and printing of worksheets/reports. The consultant must complete all deliverables by March 31, 2026, with draft materials and workshop scheduling completed in coordination with board members of the Maryland Museums Association. Submit your proposal by September 24, 2025 in PDF format via email.
