Old North Receives Grant to Develop Children's Audio Tour

We are thrilled to share that Old North Illuminated has received a generous grant from the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism’s MA 250 Grants Program to develop a new audio tour for children!

Designed for young visitors ages 7 - 12, this new tour will explore varied perspectives on the American Revolution through the lives of Old North's congregation members. Some of the parishioners that may be spotlighted include Rebecca Byles, the daughter of the church's Loyalist minister Mather Byles, Jr.; Sarah Pulling, the daughter of Patriot and lantern bearer John Pulling, Jr.; and Primus Hall, a free Black man who fought for independence. The audio tour will also share the story of Old North's connection to Paul Revere's ride and discuss Longfellow’s poem and its impact on the legacy of Revere and the church. We can't wait to release the tour next year!
