DC Preservation League is excited to announce its partnership with the DC Office of Planning, PlaceEconomics, and Brick & Story on a first-of-its-kind study focused on the economic, social, and racial equity impacts of historic preservation in Washington, DC. The study will include a combination of research, data analysis and visualization, community engagement, and the application of a racial equity lens to the work and findings.
DCPL has been pursuing a study like this for years, as it is critical that city officials and preservationists alike understand both the positive and negative impacts current historic preservation initiatives create within the District.
DCPL is seeking funding from a variety of resources such as foundations, citywide and neighborhood preservation groups, the building industry and others to help fund the study. Funders will be acknowledged in the final report for their generosity and support of this project. If you would like to learn more, please contact Rebecca Miller, rebecca@dcpreservation.org.
