There are just two weeks remaining to apply for the Zabar Family Preservation Scholarships from the Preservation League of New York State.
Thanks to the generous support of the Zabar Family Scholarship Fund, the League will award three competitive scholarships of $3,000 each this spring to outstanding students pursuing careers in historic preservation and related fields. These scholarships are designed to help defray educational costs and support the next generation of preservation leaders across New York State.

Term: Spring 2026 semester
Application Deadline: Friday, February 13, 2026
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled, or planning to be enrolled, in an undergraduate or post-graduate degree program during the spring 2026 term at a college or university in New York State
- Be a Preservation League Student Member (membership is free)

- Be studying historic preservation or a related field, including architecture, planning, public history, landscape architecture, historic trades, sustainability, and more
- Be a permanent resident of the United States
How to Apply
Submit one combined PDF to scholarships@preservenys.org that includes:
- A completed application form
- A personal essay (maximum 500 words)
- A résumé or curriculum vitae
- An official school transcript
In addition, one letter of recommendation from someone qualified to assess your academic work should be emailed directly to scholarships@preservenys.org by your reference.
Additional Opportunity
In addition to receiving a scholarship, selected recipients will be invited to attend the New York Statewide Preservation Conference in either 2026 or 2027. The Preservation League will cover conference registration and hotel accommodations, providing a valuable opportunity to connect with professionals, peers, and mentors in the preservation field.
