From Preservation Action:
The National Park Service is now accepting applications for $48 million in funding through emergency supplemental Historic Preservation Fund grants approved in December of 2024 as part of the American Relief Act. These grants support recovery, and related expenses, for historic and cultural resources in areas impacted by natural disasters that have received a major disaster declaration. The funding is limited to natural disasters occurring in 2023 and 2024.
The grants had been delayed for months since being approved in December. Preservation Action, along with our national partners, advocated for the inclusion of HPF emergency funds at the end of last year and are pleased to see the funds now available.
The grants will be awarded on a competitive basis through two notices of funding opportunity. One provides capacity grants for State and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices and other supports physical preservation projects is open to States, Tribes, and nonprofits for defined projects to repair historic and cultural resources. The deadline for applications is June 12th.
