Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area (AFNHA) is currently recruiting for AmeriCorps members for the upcoming 2025-26 service term. Multiple positions are available for cultural heritage positions focusing on museum, archives/collections, storytelling/communications, community development, and tourism sites, as well as conservation position options. Use your public history degree, gain real world experience, and provide service for rural local communities.
Positions are for one year, starting September 2025 through the fall of 2025. Full-time positions pay a $21,000 stipend for 12 months of service. Eligible members who successfully complete their service term can earn a $7395 Segal Education Award (can pay qualified student loans or future tuition) and a West Virginia tuition waiver towards future schooling at a public WV university. Positions are located in one of the 16 AFNHA WV counties that makes up the service area - including Randolph, Tucker, Preston, Barbour, Upshur, Hardy, and Greenbrier. Program offers training, team activities, service projects, and a variety of opportunities.
