Open call! We're seeking emerging artists/designers for Common Build: Gowanus. This project will create a temporary lighting installation that serves as a “gateway” to Gowanus — while providing artists/designers with tactical support activating public space, connections with community members, and access to our network of design professionals.
To be considered, fill out this application by August 19. In September, we'll share an RFP with a shortlist of applicants, who will receive $2,000 for completed proposals. The winning artist/designer will also receive a $23,000 fee for design and development; $75,000 for production; and plenty of hands-on support from our team and network.
Applicants should have:
At least two years of professional experience as an artist/designer
Completed at least one public-facing and/or community-engaged project
A practice based in the NYC metropolitan area; Gowanus-based artists/designers are especially encouraged to apply
