Preservation Maryland has launched two new grant programs to help communities protect maritime heritage and breathe new life into historic Main Streets.
Maryland Maritime Heritage Grant Program:
Preservation Maryland, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and funded through the Waterway Improvement Fund, has launched a new grant program to support the preservation and interpretation of the Chesapeake Bay’s rich maritime heritage.
Who can apply: Nonprofits and government entities
Funding available: $10,000–$50,000 per project (total $200,000 available)
Eligible projects: Preservation, restoration, or interpretation of significant maritime resources and stories

Assistance on Main Street: Professional Services Assistance Program:
Designed to help revitalize Maryland’s historic downtowns, this new program provides funding for essential professional services that support high-quality, lasting building improvements.
Who can apply: Eligible businesses and properties located within a Main Street Maryland community
Funding available: Up to $2,500 per award
Eligible uses: Architectural services, preservation consultation, and other specialized professional services that help restore historic commercial façades and bring vacant or underutilized buildings back to productive use
