Supporters of North Carolina’s historic preservation tax credit have launched an online petition to urge state legislators to re-introduce the tax credit. The N.C Metropolitan Mayors Coalition launched the website a few weeks before the state legislature goes back in session.
North Carolina’s historic tax credit expired on Dec. 31 2014, after state legislators failed to renew the program last year. State Senate leader, Phil Berger, called the program “inconsistent” with the simplified tax code approved by the state. North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory supports the program and is urging the state legislature to reintroduce the historic preservation tax credit.
Sign the petition! Also look to their website for a great example of state level advocacy.
