Historic Barns Grant Language Reauthorized in Farm Bill

On Wednesday, June 6th, the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Specialty Crops, Rural Development and Foreign Agriculture favorably marked up the Rural Development title of the 2007 Farm Bill (HR 2419) by reauthorizing Historic Barn grants language. Historic Barns grants were first authorized as part of the 2002 Farm Bill at a level of $25 million dollars but never received any appropriated funds from Congress in the intervening years. The new reauthorization provides an open five-year authorization for the program through 2012.
