Summary Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of the Historic Preservation (HP)Program in the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) the Historic Preservation Laboratory Manager is responsible for managing the research activities of the Historic Preservation Laboratory. Serving faculty and students by providing laboratory testing, identification, analysis, diagnosis and treatment information for historic architectural systems and materials. Manages a wide range of academic, administrative and financial matters to ensure compliance with University and GSAPP policies and procedures, especially health and safety. Collaborates with University and GSAPP departments/offices to ensure the smooth operation of the Historic Preservation Laboratory.
Works with minimal supervision and directly supervises short term casual hires.
Responsible for laboratory equipment.
Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required. Minimum 3-5 years' related experience.
MS in Historic Preservation preferred or Master's degree in architecture or engineering. Preferred knowledge of architectural materials and building systems conservation, materials testing, laboratory safety and laboratory logistics and operations. Preferred knowledge of 3D scanning and photogrammetry.
