Knox Heritage Executive Director Position Posting-January 17, 2018

The Executive Director of Knox Heritage will take the reins of a highly impactful, high-profile preservation organization in Knoxville, Tennessee, with strong programming supported by an engaged board, broad donor base, and enthusiastic volunteer force. The departing founding director has guided the work of Knox Heritage for 15-years, creating a local preservation ethic embraced by Knoxville. As the face and voice of Knox Heritage, the next Executive Director will be responsible for day-to-day management of the organization as well as communication with the membership and local partners. The successful candidate will be a change agent who can articulate the impact of Knox Heritage in a one-on-one meeting, in front of large groups, in a tweet or in an op-ed article. An experienced non-profit manager with a demonstrated passion for preservation and a proven track record of fundraising will best meet the candidate profile.

Knox Heritage is headquartered in Historic Westwood, a historically significant Knoxville home and a major save for the organization.  Knox Heritage employs three full-time and three part-time staff members. Effectively maximizing and developing staff is paramount to ongoing organizational sustainability. Preservation programming, saving buildings and revitalizing communities through real estate preservation efforts are hallmarks of Knox Heritage.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategically guide the work of the 25-member Board in promoting the mission, goals, and objectives of Knox Heritage

Ensure sound fiscal practices in building and monitoring the annual operating/capital budget

Identify and cultivate new revenue streams

Design and implement a donor stewardship program

Evaluate the organization's programs and activities, operating procedures and technology for membership satisfaction, cost-effectiveness, organizational visibility and mission focus; recommend and implement changes

Key Qualifications:

Ability to lead an established and high profile non-profit organization

Financial acumen; experience in the management of non-profit resources and knowledge of sound fiscal procedures

Excellent communication and networking skills with the ability to listen, engage, inspire, educate and move people to action

Demonstrated fundraising experience in paid or volunteer capacity

Proven track record building, motivating, leading and retaining staff

Skilled in establishing and maintaining productive partnerships with preservation
partners, business leaders, neighborhoods, government and  university officials who share common goals

Compensation: $70,000 annually, with benefits including insurance and 401K; 4 weeks paid vacation

Application Process: The search will move quickly with candidates interviewed March 1 and 2. The anticipated start date is May 1, 2018, as Preservation Month in
Knoxville affords the new Executive Director numerous community engagement
opportunities. For application details, contact  KHSearch18@gmail.com.
Applications will be accepted through January 31, 2018.
