Graduate degree in historic preservation with concentration in materials conservation is desired but not required.
This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC); Office of the Chief Operating Officer; Director, Planning and Project Management; Architecture and Preservation Branch and provides preservation expertise to conduct condition assessment surveys, prepare construction documents for preservation projects and provides construction administration services for preservation projects at the United States Capitol complex.
-Design and specification development, computer aided design CADD drawing and the refresh of existing designs required for construction restoration projects.
-Performing condition assessments and preparing construction drawings and specifications for preservation projects focused on wood, stone, tile and metals conservation.
-Conducting research, prepares written reports and briefings, making presentations related to preservation activities, reviewing contractor submittals, and conducting construction phase inspections and quality control.
-Reviewing and recommending for action all submissions of product data, shop drawings, requests for information (RFIs), calculations, coordination drawings, samples, certifications, test reports, and mock-ups for compliance with contract documents, consistency between disciplines.
-Performing site visits and condition assessments inclusive of summary reports and preparing scope modification drawings and specifications, including construction change bulletins as needed for construction changes.
-Preparing reports on project status, technical issues and progress, quality control and quality assurance.
-Conducting meeting, conferences and presentations for projects.
The incumbent must follow all relevant safety rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Must utilize knowledge of and must comply with all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner. Ensures all safety practices and equipment is fully utilized. Uses required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
