Now Accepting Session Proposals: Preservation Education (California Preservation Foundation)
The California Preservation Foundation trains more than 1,500 people each year at online webinars, half-day and full-day workshops, tours, and our annual 4 day conference. We are now accepting session proposals for each of these educational programs, and are interested in bringing in a diverse array of preservation professionals to share their skills and expertise.

Conference Session Proposals
The 2020 California Preservation Conference will take place in Sacramento from Sunday, May 17 to Wednesday, May 20th. Proposals within these topics are more likely to be accepted into the conference:
  • Challenges of Climate Change & Natural Hazards
  • Expanding the Preservation Constituency
  • Rural & Agricultural Preservation (including the new Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area)
  • Infill & housing – Reconciling density and affordability with historic preservation and community character
  • What Happened to Main Street? (development and redevelopment in historic downtowns)
  • Special Sessions (any sessions that don’t fit into the themes above)
Conference programs can be submitted in the following categories:
  • Sessions (90 minutes)
  • Workshops (usually 3 hrs, sometimes a full day)
  • Mobile Workshops (usually 3 hours)
  • Study Tours (educational tours of local historic sites)
Other Educational Programs
In addition to our annual conference, we provide training in the following formats throughout the year:
  • Tours – We hold two to four stand-alone tours each year throughout the state. They cost attendees between $10 – $100, and generally highlight one or more stunning historic landscapes or places.
  • Workshops – These half-day and full-day programs are for professional training. They are typically held within 50 miles of California’s major urban centers, and are typically broadcast online.
  • Webinars – These 90-minute online programs can be presented from any location by the speaker and reach a much broader audience. CPF does at least 16 webinars a year, sometimes as many as 24.
  • Special Programs or Evening Events – These short, evening programs are located in areas where it is convenient for people to go after work. They have headline or keynote speaker(s) and are sometimes sponsored by a firm or organization. They delve into thought-provoking topics that can be presented in less than an hour and broadly related to historic preservation.
Nominations close July 31st, and you can submit your proposal here: http://californiapreservation.org/programs/session-proposals
