HistoriCorps Seeks Principal Investigators
Organization: HistoriCorps® is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to save and sustain historic places for public benefit through partnerships that foster public involvement, engage volunteers and provide training and education. We partner with federal, state, and local land management agencies to undertake technical preservation projects throughout the United States.

Position: HistoriCorps seeks mid-level architectural historians to lead volunteers in surveying, documenting, and evaluating historic buildings, structures, and districts for public partners such as the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. Primary Responsibilities: The Principal Investigator (PI) may conduct a variety of projects, but their focal project will be a survey of recreation residence tracts on the Shoshone and Sawtooth National Forests. The PI will work under the direction of one of HistoriCorps’ Project Managers to plan and execute these projects. They will lead a small group of volunteers to conduct field work on the recreation residence tracts. The PI is responsible for guiding volunteers to ensure that they collect all necessary information, document the resources, enjoy the work, and work safely. After the field work is complete, the PI will write reports for the respective U.S. Forest Service partners and State Historic Preservation Offices in fulfillment of, and in compliance with, Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

Apply! HistoriCorps is committed to equal opportunity and equal treatment for all qualified individuals based on individual merit and capability. Our commitment applies without regard to race, color, religion or creed, gender, sexual orientation, national origin or ancestry, age, marital status, veteran status, disability or any factors identified and protected by federal, state and local law. Anyone interested in the position is encouraged to apply.

To apply, visit historicorps.org/principal-investigator.

This opportunity will close on May 11, 2020.
