One of Restore Oregon's 2019 Most Endangered Places, the Cumberland Church, needs your support to save it from demolition. Over the past eight months the Cumberland Community Events Center (CCEC), the nonprofit organization working to save Albany's only Queen Anne church, has made substantial progress in their effort to save the Victorian-era building and rehabilitate it as a community center. The City-owned church is threatened with demolition but the CCEC has negotiated an agreement to purchase the building and relocate it to a lot they intend to purchase from the City.
The City has given the CCEC until October 1 to raise the $69,000 needed to purchase the land. The group is seeking contributions from the public to fund the property acquisition. Their ultimate goal is to save this community treasure and re-purpose it as a community events center.
