Richard Grubb & Associates, Inc. (RGA) is seeking a motivated and talented Architectural Historian to be based out of its Philadelphia, PA or Cranbury, NJ office. This position will be based remotely at this time due to COVID-19. However,
applicants should be available to travel to project sites in the NJ/PA area as necessary for site visits and fieldwork duties. The successful candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience, meet the qualifications set forth in the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural Historians/Historians (36CFR61), and have a Master’s Degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or closely related field. Experience with federal and state cultural resource management regulations, including a good working knowledge of NEPA and Section 106, is preferred.
Responsibilities include conducting detailed primary and secondary source historical research, technical report writing, National Register evaluations, and HABS/HAER documentation among others. Familiarity with the regional history and the cultural and built environment of the Mid-Atlantic is desirable. The ability to conduct intensive archival research (i.e. using deeds, census records, etc.) and to write clear, cogent, and thorough historic contexts is a must. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and have the ability to manage priorities and meet project deadlines and budgets.
This full-time position includes a competitive pay and benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, with a minimum salary starting at $43,000.

Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or closely related field.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Ability to generate and contribute creative and effective problem-solving strategies while managing multiple tasks and projects with varying deadlines.
- Strong self-starter attitude with a keen attention to detail.
