Architectural Historian - Nevada SHPO (Carson City, NV)

NEVADA STATE HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICE (SHPO)
As a Historic Preservation Specialist 1, this position's primary responsibility will be architectural review in the Nevada SHPO's review and compliance program including Section 106, the Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives program, and the State of Nevada's Commission for Cultural Centers and Historic Preservation (CCCHP) grant program. The position provides advice and technical assistance to State and Federal agencies regarding the treatment and stewardship of cultural resources.

This position is based in Carson City which is surrounded by the beautiful Sierra Mountains. The state capital is located twenty-five minutes from stunning Lake Tahoe which offers world class skiing as well as hiking, biking, and various other outdoor activities and cultural events. Northern Nevada averages over 320 days of sunshine each year.

Master’s degree from an accredited university in architectural history, history, art history, anthropology, historic preservation or closely related field; OR Bachelor’s
degree in architectural history, history, art history, anthropology, historic
preservation or closely related field and one year of professional experience
in research, writing, or teaching American architectural history, restoration
architecture, history, art history, or historic preservation with an academic
institution; working for a professional historic preservation consulting firm
or a Federal, state, or local entity performing historic preservation work; or
managing or maintaining cultural resource databases to include the digitization
of GIS data, data validation and normalization, and resolution of data
duplicates; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as
Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for an Architectural Historian is required.
Salary Range: $47,188.80 - $69,739.20
