RFP for Chesapeake Mapping Initiative: Pennsylvania Crowdsourcing
Historic Preservation Blog from PreservationDirectory.com - RFP
Contributed By: Kendra Parzen
Website: http://savingplaces.org

The National Trust for Historic Places has released an RFP for a consultant for the Chesapeake Mapping Initiative: Pennsylvania Crowdsourcing project. The RFP opens on November 1 and responses are due December 3, 2021.  A link to the RFP can be found here: savingplaces.org/requests-for-proposals.

The goal of this project is to identify and survey African American historic resources in select counties in southern Pennsylvania.  The National Trust will create a crowdsourcing application to identify African American historic sites, which would be publicized through community engagement by the consultant.  The consultant would also provide further research and survey for submitted sites as needed, and then would upload resources to the PA-SHARE cultural resource information system.  We are looking for a consultant with experience surveying African American historic sites and who is adept at engaging directly with communities. The timeframe for this initiative is January through September 2022.

This contract is part of a larger effort, the Chesapeake Mapping Initiative, that aims to identify African American historic resources in the Chesapeake Watershed in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.  More information about the Chesapeake Mapping Initiative is available here: https://forum.savingplaces.org/blogs/kendra-parzen1/2020/10/01/mapping-chesapeake-watershed.
