Serves as the City’s technical expert for downtown planning, architectural design and historic preservation including Downtown development review processes; acts as staff liaison to the Historic and Architectural Review Commission (HARC); manages all other development related applications (public and private) in the Downtown and Old Town Overlay districts; supports the implementation of the Downtown Master Plan.
Preservation & Redevelopment Program Manager is responsible for coordinating, promoting, and implementing the City’s Historic Preservation Program.
Serves as Downtown Redevelopment Planning project lead.
Duties include developing and administering City policies and procedures for the protection of cultural and historical resources; ensuring that City activities comply with historic preservation regulations; and providing technical, architectural, design, historical, and policy guidance to City staff, City Council, governmental officials, boards and committees, regional, and state agencies.
Provides information and technical assistance to property owners, private development interests, and the general public.
Meets with property owners and private developers to review and discuss historic preservation policies and procedures, code guidelines, and City policy for requested uses and modifications to historic resources.
Conducts community-wide training and awareness activities on historic preservation issues.
Plans, coordinates and supervises the work of staff involved in historic preservation functions.
Conducts zoning, subdivision, and site plan reviews and makes recommendations and/or decisions on proposed changes for historic properties.
Assists neighborhoods and/or property owners through the Certificate of Appropriateness process.
Serves as the designated city official to the Texas Historical Commission Certified Local Government program.
Serves as the City of Georgetown's Historic Preservation Officer (City Historic Preservation Officer/CHPO) for the purpose of administering the local preservation ordinance.
Provides direct technical support to the Historic and Architectural Review Commission (HARC)
Researches and evaluates design and preservation related matters such as exterior changes to both residential and commercial additions and alterations, demolition/relocation proposals, new business signage, and design compliance in accordance with adopted design guidelines.
Assists in the development of long-range studies in conformance with the Unified
Development Code, Downtown Master Plan, Downtown and Old Town Overlay Design Guidelines, and other development codes / standards.
Assists in the implementation of the Downtown Master Plan through interdepartmental coordination and input of the City’s Capital Improvement Planning process.
Assists with special projects related to development code revisions, manual updates, process review, etc.
May involve the direct or indirect supervision of permanent and part time staff including consultant and internship support.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Hiring Range: $68,586.44 - $85,924.80 annually. Salary negotiable commensurate with experience.
