The South Carolina State Historic Preservation Office is currently
accepting applications for the Review Coordinator for Transportation Projects
(Archivist IV). The position primarily works to review SC Department of
Transportation projects for impacts to historic properties, and also provides
important support for the state’s cultural resources GIS system, SC ArchSite.
Job Responsibilities: Coordinates the State Historic Preservation Office's review of
federally-funded transportation projects with the SC Department of
Transportation (SCDOT) regarding the protection of historic properties.
Coordinates and prepares for appropriate agency signature recommended agency
responses on undertakings involving transportation projects submitted for comment
under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act or through NEPA
documents. Provides input for SCDOT
long-range planning and advance project planning and facilitates early
consultation. Assists with the
administration and implementation of the Statewide Survey Program and the
state’s online cultural resources GIS application(SC ArchSite).
Minimum and Additional
Requirements: Master's degree in archaeology, architectural history, historic
preservation, cultural resources management, public history or a related field;
or a bachelor's degree in archaeology, architectural history, historic
preservation, public history or a related field and 2 years relevant work
experience in cultural resources management. Coursework or experience with GIS software.
Hiring Range: $39,000 - $42,000
