History Colorado is seeking candidates for a term-limited National and State Register Historian who will serve as a key team member responsible for carrying out responsibilities associated with successful implementation of the National and State Register Programs in Colorado.
Funding for this position is guaranteed for thirty (30) months and/or until 1/31/2027, whichever comes first.
A primary area of focus during the three years will be the successful implementation of Colorado Heritage for All, a statewide initiative with the big goal of adding 150 sites to the National and/or State Registers by Colorado’s Sesquicentennial in 2026 that are associated with historically marginalized and excluded communities in Colorado. The Colorado Heritage for All model includes engaging with historically marginalized communities to understand sites of importance to those communities, working with professional consultants, students, and community members to prepare nominations, and finding ways to further democratize the preparation of nominations so that designation of historic properties is deeply accessible to all.
