Randolph Friends Meeting House 250th Anniversary
October 11, 2008 |
The 250th anniversary of the Randolph Friends Meeting House, Randolph Township, N.J., the oldest place of worship in Morris County, will be celebrated with an open house 2-5 p.m. Admission is free to the event that offers tours, displays and refreshments. At Quaker Church Rd. & Quaker Ave. just off N.J. Rt. 10, the comprehensively restore meeting house appears -- interior as well as exterior -- as it did when completed in fall 1758. Owned since 1898 by The Friends Meeting House & Cemetery Assn. of Randolph Twp., a preservation organization founded by descendants of the area's 18th and 19th century Quakers, it has been the home of Dover-Randolph Friends Meeting since 1954. |
