If you’re curious about historic preservation/heritage conservation or need to brush up on the basics, join the USC School of Architecture’s Summer Short Course in Heritage Conservation! The full course runs May 19-31, but you can take as much or as little as your schedule allows.
Taught by leaders in the field, the course introduces this fascinating, evolving discipline in an intensive two-week format. It combines half-day hybrid (classroom/virtual) sessions with field trips to historic sites in the Los Angeles area. You can take the full course, clusters of sessions by topic, or individual sessions, whatever works for you.
A stellar lineup of speakers will discuss their areas of expertise, from the history and philosophy of the movement to historic designation and documentation, preservation law and planning, sustainable design, materials, advocacy, collaborating with communities, and more.
Field-based learning will show basic principles in action at landmarks including the Gamble House, the Stahl House/Case Study House #22 (limited capacity), Hollywood Boulevard, the USC campus, the Mafundi Building in Watts, and the Will Rogers Ranch.
