Foursquare Homes: Quintessential Portland Architecture
November 22, 2008 |
Celebrate one of Portland’s most notable historic house styles, the American Foursquare, at this Architectural Heritage Center program. Popular from around 1900 well into the 1930s, the Foursquare is found in every older Portland neighborhood. Architectural historian Jack Bookwalter will illustrate what constitutes a Foursquare, their variety of ornamental details, and the hybrid styles that evolved from its most basic form.
