Cliveden Winter Beer Festival

December 6, 2008
Cliveden Winter Beer Festival

On Saturday, December 6 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Cliveden of the National Trust will host Philadelphia’s only Winter Beer Festival.  The festival will feature a wide array of winter and holiday brews from as many as twenty local breweries.  The event will take place on Cliveden’s 5.5 acre property, located at 6401 Germantown Avenue in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Northwest Philadelphia.  Proceeds from the event will benefit Cliveden and its community revitalization programs.

The festivities begin with a special VIP session from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Cliveden Carriage House.  VIP ticket holders will have access to a variety of specialty beers selected for the occasion, as well as some of the finest award winning local and regional home brews.  Following the VIP event, the gates will open for the General Session at 2:00 p.m.  Each ticket to the General Session will include access to all brews on-site, with each visitor being given a glass to sample the diversity of brews.  In addition, a program on the history of local beer and brewing will be offered to compliment the extensive range of beers and food on tap for the afternoon.

VIP Session tickets include entry to the General Session and will be available for $65; General Session tickets will cost $50 if purchased in advance, and $65 at the door.

Advanced tickets can be purchased online at www.cliveden.org. More information about the Winter Beer Festival is available at www.cliveden.org.

Cliveden, located in Historic Germantown (Freedom’s Backyard), was the site of the 1777 Battle of Germantown.  Also home to seven generations of the Chew family, Cliveden is a site which highlights the story of America’s continuing struggle for freedom. Offering house tours from April through December, as well as year round programming including concerts, lectures, workshops, and annual celebrations, Cliveden serves as a central resource center for Philadelphia’s historic Northwest community.
