4th Annual Palm Springs Modernism Week
February 13-21, 2009 |
The coolest confab in California takes place again in Palm Springs Feb 13-21 when the 4th Annual Modernism Show and Week convenes.
The City of Palm Springs is the Presenting Sponsor again and promises to be the most fun you can have with your mod rags and go go boots on!
Modernism Week is a fun-filled homage to the ideals of mid-century modern design, architecture and culture. The style which originated in the early 1950s and 60s, typified by clean, simple lines that celebrated the elegant informality of the Southern California lifestyle, came to define desert modernism. "We welcome modernism aficionados from around the country and beyond to Palm Springs for this exciting 9-day celebration," said Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet. "Our cache of mid-century moder architecture is among the world's largest and it is one of the many characteristics that creates our unique Palm Springs tourism experience."
In addition to its popular architecture tours and chic parties at private mid-century modern homes, there will be a vintage car show, lectures, films and tributes to William Krisel, Julius Shulman and Charles and Ray Eames.
