Join Historic New England for four days of tours and lectures featuring superb collections and top experts. Explore woodcarvings, paintings, hooked rugs, painted furniture, redware, and the many other objects often referred to as “country arts”. Among the lecturers and presenters are Robert Emlen of Brown University; Richard Nylander, Historic New England curator emeritus; Martha Hamilton and Stephen Fletcher of Skinner, Inc; conservator Mary Lou Davis, and author Joan Brownstein.
Warren Little, son of Bertram K. and Nina Fletcher Little, discusses growing up at Cogswell’s Grant in Essex, Massachusetts, and living with one of the most significant collections of American folk art in the nation. Tours include a visit with Mr. Little at Cogswell’s Grant, a visit to J.O.J. Frost Gallery in Marblehead, Massachusetts, and a road trip to view private collections and enjoy behind-the-scenes tours.
The $695 fee includes all lectures, tours of private homes, admissions and tours for Marblehead Historical Society, Historical Society of Old Newbury, and Historic New England properties, transportation to and from special visits and excursions, daily breakfast, lunch, and evening receptions. Registrants are responsible for their own hotel reservations.
