Black History Month concerts at Georgia Music Hall of Fame

February 12-16, 2007

The Georgia Music Hall of Fame celebrates Black History Month by presenting its 8th Annual Peanut Butter and Jelly Jam luncheon concert series. The shows will be held daily at noon, Mon., Feb. 12, through Fri., Feb. 16, in the museum’s 3rd floor Macon Room. Admission for the general public is one canned good to benefit the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. Peanut Butter and Jelly cookies will be available courtesy of Edgar’s Bistro and proceeds benefit Macon’s Goodwill Industries.

Music lovers are encouraged to bring their lunches to enjoy during each live performance. Concerts feature:

  • Mon., Feb. 12 - Dean Brown & Friends
Inspired musically by sounds of gospel, classic rock, soul and reggae, Dean Brown is a multi-instrumentalist who plays with a rotating line-up of musicians.
  • Tues., Feb. 13 - Oscar Jackson
Macon-based veteran saxophonist plays traditional jazz selections with elegance and style.
  • Wed., Feb. 14 - Bone & Holmes
Vocalist Mary Holmes and instrumentalist Tony “Bone” Dorsey are back to perform R&B and soul favorites. Together, the husband and wife duo promises a dynamic show that has entertained audiences for over 20 years.
  • Thurs., Feb. 15 - Mark Brooker
Hear Brooker, backed by Macon’s finest musicians, belt out soul, blues and jazz standards.
  • Fri., Feb. 16 - Veronika Jackson
Enjoy the storytelling music of a folk/blues musician whose rich voice and grass roots songs will stir your soul.

Student and special interest groups are encouraged to attend. Please contact us at 751-3334 for information on reserving group space.
