Sustainable Development & Green Buildings Aren’t Synonymous presented by Donovan Rypkema
September 15, 2009 |
Green buildings in the United States have attracted the attention of architects, builders, public officials and environmentalists. The “news” is that new “green” buildings are only one component of a larger sustainable development movement which includes economic and cultural responsibilities, along with social and environmental concerns. Calling something “green” or “sustainable” does not make it so. That’s called “green-washing.” The role of historic buildings in what is truly sustainable development cannot be overestimated. The greenest building is the one that’s already built.
Sustainable Development & Green Buildings Aren’t Synonymous presented by Donovan Rypkema, Nationally renowned Historic Preservation Economist. Special Event to Benefit the Architectural Heritage Center.
