Historic New Castle 6th Annual Kitchen and Secret Gardens Walking Tour

WHAT: New Castle Library Friends host the 6th annual Kitchen to Garden Tour in historic New Castle, DE. Walking tour will feature creative kitchens in challenging spaces and Gateways leading to Secret Gardens. There will also be an Emile Henry cookware demonstration by local chefs plus sales of garden and cooking books.
Visitors will also enjoy walking down the cobblestone streets, strolling the town green, enjoying the nature walk along the Delaware River, visiting six local museums and touring the historic churches.
WHEN: Saturday, October 10, 2009 from 9:30am to 4:00pm, rain or shine.
WHERE: Walking tour in historic New Castle, Delaware. Plenty of free parking available. Tour buses welcome. Tours begin at New Castle Presbyterian Education Building at 2nd and Delaware Streets. All ticket holders receive guidebook with map and event schedules.
WHO: Open to the public.
WHY: Proceeds benefit the expansion and renovation of the New Castle Public Library.
PRE-TOUR PARTY: Friday October 9, 2009, 6-9pm at elegant 1855 Gothic Revival Lesley Manor at 123 W. 7th street, New Castle, DE. Party will feature a night of Secret Indulgences such as wine tasting by Tollgate Liquors, Chocolate Tasting by Dove Chocolates, open bar, light supper fabulous desserts, and silent auction of pampered delights and local artist paintings. $55/person (advance purchase only). Combination ticket for pre-tour party and kitchen to garden tour $70. See tickets section for ordering information.
TICKETS: October 10 Tour Tickets are $20. Ticket pickup, chef demonstrations and event day ticket purchases at New Castle Presbyterian Education Building at 2nd and Delaware Streets. Advance tickets can be purchased until Oct. 8 at temporary library or www.newcastlelibraryfriends.org.
