Marshall Historical Society's 30th Annual Candlelight Walk Home Tour
December 12-13, 2009 |
Each year in December the Marshall Historical Society features 5 historic homes on a very special tour. The Candlelight Walk showcases 5 historic homes decorated for the holidays and lit only by candlelight. You get to tour the interiors of these homes in small groups, meet the homeowners and celebrate the magic of the season in beautiful Marshall, Michigan. The magical evening begins with a reception in one of Marshall’s historic churches. Hot cocoa, coffee, and homemade cookies and desserts will tempt the palate. Christmas music will play in the background as you pull on your mittens, lace up your boots and get ready to tour some of Marshall’s finest neighborhoods. You will walk with a small group from home to home. The tour will take approximately 2 1/2 hours.
You will be asked to remove your boots/shoes at each home. You will be provided with a sturdy plastic bag to stow your shoes in, but please remember to wear nice warm socks as you will be walking in your stocking feet through the homes. Due to the nature of this tour we feel that the event is not appropriate for children under 10 years of age. The tour does require a great deal of walking. The tour this year will cover a 2 mile route. Please dress appropriately for the weather. We rarely cancel this event due to weather conditions, in fact we usually do a “snow dance” the night before as a light snow fall adds to the beauty of the evening. If you have any questions about the tour, please feel free to email Jennifer atmhsdirector@mac.com. We look forward to having you with us in December!
