The public is invited to tour 10 beautifully-appointed historic homes and gardens decorated for the holidays, followed by a homemade holiday dessert reception and candlelight concert by the Forest Hill High School Dimension 20 Chorus at 8:15 p.m.
Tastings from some of the area’s finest caterers and restaurants, along with complimentary beverages, will be provided for tour guests in each of the homes and gardens.
A special addition to this year’s tour features HGTV Design Star finalist Nathan Galui, who will greet visitors in one of the tour homes and answer interior design questions while showcasing his own furniture designs. One of the homes on the tour, Rob Thompson’s Mediterranean Revival home on Ardmore Road, was featured on the PBS show “This Old House.” Other homes include the historic “Studstill Mansion” on Kanuga Drive, now owned by Gregg and Rebecca Weiss along with the Mizner-esque home of Victoria Preuss and Tim Rivers on Upland Road which features many original architectural embellishments.
Tour tickets are $25 if purchased before 5 p.m. on Dec. 5 and $30 if purchased at the door. Tickets may be purchased on line at www.flamingopark.org or at www.historichometours.com. The tour is suitable for adults only – no children allowed.
Also available for sale during the tour will be the Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association cookbook, “Create a Stir” at $19.70 per copy. All of the recipes in the cookbook come from the kitchens of homeowners in this friendly West Palm Beach neighborhood.
Ticket and tour map distribution will be in the 700 block of Claremore Drive, located five blocks north of Belvedere Road between Lake and Georgia avenues in West Palm Beach.
Flamingo Park is a neighborhood of historic homes, many in the Spanish Mission and Mediterranean Revival style, built during the 1920’s boom era. Neighborhood residents decorate their homes and yards with holiday lights for the night of the tour as judging for the annual Neighborhood Holiday Lighting Contest will also take place that evening. Trolley service along the route will be available during tour, along with HopCar service.
Remember to wear comfortable shoes and no high heels as they mar the wood floors. For more information, call 561-820-1383 or visit www.flamingopark.org.
