Saving L.A. Conference

On Sunday, March 18, the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council will present a free conference on how to save Los Angeles’ physical, cultural and social history, co-sponsored by the LA Conservancy, the City of Los Angeles Office of Historic Resources, and the Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils Congress (LANCC). The event will be held from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the historic 1931 Los Angeles Theatre at 615 S. Broadway in downtown LA.
Following opening remarks by City Planning Director Gail Goldberg, AICP, there will be presentations on a range of neighborhood preservation topics including the Citywide Historic Resources Survey, the proposed Neighborhood Character Ordinance, the city’s Historic Preservation Overlay Zone program, and financial incentives for historic preservation. Outside the main auditorium, exhibit booths will feature local historical, archival and preservation organizations, including a collection of rare Los Angeles memorabilia. A validated parking rate of $5 will be available at the Pershing Square Garage.
