Stories in Stone: Geology and American Architecture
February 4, 2010 |
Seattle author David B. Williams will share tales and sensational images from his book Stories in Stone: Travels Through Urban Geology. Tracing the use of stone in American architecture, Williams will explore everything from the brownstones of New York, to a petrified wood gas station in eastern Colorado, and the travertine of the Getty Museum, which came from the same quarries as the travertine used for the Colosseum in Rome, Italy.
